Altered Books / Sketchbook Project
Ungoing from September - June
Students will be transforming a discarded book into a creative work of art. Students will be using their altered books to create an art journal to help them express their visual voice. Art journals will use a variety of media and techniques.
Altered books is an art form in which existing books are reworked into works of art. The existing book becomes the canvas for the new ideas an images. Sometimes words or images from the book are kept as part of the altering. At other times, the books are entirely changed to become a completely different idea.
All of your sketchbook projects (projects that help you practice new skills) will be placed in your altered book. Your altered book will also have other personal history projects that will be assigned periodically.
